About Me

Kitty grew up in Southern California and enjoyed, as many kids in the late 70's and 80's, the carefree adventures that awaited a kid when they stepped out their front door. It was a time when kids played outside until the street lights came on without a care in the world, they road bicycles or skated without protective gear and if they fell down they bounced back up. Big Wheels rocked!

Today, she is an Alexandria, Virginia resident and an attorney ("Boring!" is what her 8 year old self would probably say about the professional part of her grown up life.) Her passions include traveling, half marathons, cooking and photography. Each of her hobbies has an interesting starting point. For example, her love for cooking began at the age of 13 and is rooted in a parent-issued challenge which coaxed her into taking cooking classes at such a young age. Kitty has also dabbled in writing over the years. Her first published pieces occurred during law school where she wrote a monthly wine column for the school's student newspaper. A little over a decade later she resumed her writing pursuits, this time for a web-based wine publication featuring monthly food and wine pairings of Mid-Atlantic wines.

Looking for an outlet for her writing and photography led Kitty to create this blog when her work for the wine publication ended in 2011. Originally the format continued with the food and wine pairing under the banner "Wines, Vines and Roses". At the beginning of 2014 the re-branding of the blog to "Wandering Through the Vines and Roses" marked the transition to a general interest format in order to give Kitty more flexibility in her writing and showcasing her hobbies.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than the ones you did do. So throw off your bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." Mark Twain
